In English, there are only a couple of ways to call your buddy an idiot.  But in the Chinese language, there are dozens and dozens of different ways to call your friend a moron.  Most of these words have rather interesting literal translations ranging from “stupid white” to “little good”.  Three of the most common insults used by young Chinese people against their friends are by using numbers.  You can call your friend “very number 2”, or say they are very “13 o’clock” or you could even call them the number “250”.  If you never knew that you could insult someone by calling them a number, then you obviously still need more training with the Chinese slang blog.

白痴-bái chī-Idiot (most common term) (Noun)

Literal Translation-White idiot

他是我们办公室最大的白痴。

tā shì wǒmén bàngōngshì zuì dà de báichī。

He is the biggest idiot in our entire office.

神经病-shén jīng bìng-Retarded, has mental problems (Noun)

Literal Translation-God pass ill

天哪！他和那个丑女人结婚一定是有神经病。

tiān na！tā hé nàgè chǒu nǚrén jiéhūn yídìng shì yǒu shénjīngbìng。

Oh my god! He must have mental problems for marrying that ugly woman.

笨-bèn-Stupid, dumb (Adj)

和你一起吃饭的那个女孩是我所见过的女人中最笨的。

hé nǐ yìqǐ chīfàn de nàgè nǚhái shì wǒ suǒ jiànguò de nǚrén zhōng zuì bèn de。

That girl you brought to dinner was the most stupid women I have ever met.

笨蛋-bèn dàn-Dummy, fool (Noun)

Literal Translation-Stupid egg

你真是个笨蛋。

nǐ zhēn shì gè bèndàn。

You really are a stupid.

二百五-èr bǎi wǔ-Idiot, dummy, moron (Noun)

Literal Translation-Two hundred and fifty

他弟弟是个二百五。

tā dìdi shì gè èrbǎiwǔ。

His little brother is an idiot.

有病-yǒu bìng-Has mental problems (Verb)

Literal Translation-Have illness

永远不要听我那疯狂的叔叔的话，每个人都知道他有病。

yǒngyuǎn búyào tīng wǒ nà fēngkuáng de shūshu de huà，měigè rén dōu zhīdào tā yǒubìng。

脑残-nǎo cán-Moron,retarded, has mental disability（Often used ironically）(Adj)

Literal Translation-Brain disabled

那个脑残就在老师的面前作弊。

nàgè nǎocán jiù zài lǎoshī de miànqián zuòbì。

That moron was cheating on the test right in front of the teacher.

半吊子-bàn diào zi-Someone deficient in mental ability (Noun)

Literal Translation-Half hang

我认为他自己永远解决不了问题，他只是个半吊子。

wǒ rènwéi tā zìjǐ yǒngyuǎn jiějué bù liǎo wèntí，tā zhǐ shì gè bàndiàozǐ。

I don’t think he could ever figure out the problem by himself, he isn’t “all there” in the head.

你吃错药了吗?-nǐ chī cuò yào le ma？-Did you take the wrong medicine?

你为什么那么做？你吃错药了吗？

nǐ wèishénme nàme zuò？nǐ chī cuò yào le ma？

Why did you do that? Did you take the wrong medicine?

十三点-shí sān diǎn-Weirdo or crazy person (Noun)

Literal Translation-Thirteen o’clock

那个透过窗户盯着别人看的老头子像个十三点。

nàgè tòu guò chuānghù dīngzhe biérén kàn de lǎ tóuzǐ xiàng gè shísāndiǎn。

That old man is a weirdo when he stares at people through the window.

小白-xiǎo bái-Idiot, moron (Noun)

Literal Translation-Little white

那个人是小白，别信他。

nàgè rén shì xiǎobái ，bié xìn tā。

That man is an idiot, don’t trust him.

蠢货-chǔn huò-Dummy, moron, foolish man (Noun)

Literal Translation-Stupid good

那个蠢货昨晚喝醉了睡在了大街上。

nàgè chǔnhuò zuówǎn hēzuì le shuì zài le dàjiē shàng。

That moron got drunk and slept on the street last night.

蠢驴-chǔn lǘ-Jack ass, idiot (Noun)

Literal Translation-Stupid donkey

别听那个蠢驴的，他说的全是屁话。

bié tīng nàgè chǔnlǘ de，tā shuō de quán shì pìhuà。

Don’t listen to that Jackass. Everything he says is bull.

你二啊！-nǐ èr a-You’re so stupid.

Literal Translation-Are you two?

你二啊！ 我不敢相信你在我的老板面前说了那样的话。

nǐ èr a！wǒ bùgǎn xiāngxìn nǐ zài wǒde lǎobǎn miànqián shuō le nàyàng de huà。

You are so stupid! I can’t believe you said that in front of my boss.

无能-wú néng-Incompetent (Adj)

Literal Translation-No can

那个商店的工人们都十分无能。

nàgè shāngdiàn de gōngrén men dōu shífēn wúnéng。

The workers at that store are completely incompetent.

猪-zhū-Moron, pig (Noun)

那个猪花五百元买了块假表。

nàgè zhū huā wǔbǎi yuán mǎi le kuài jiǎ biǎo。

That moron paid 500 rmb for a fake watch.

猪大肠-zhū dà cháng-Moron, stupid man (Noun)

Literal Translation-Pig big gut

那个猪大肠总是在办公室犯错误。

nàgè zhūdàcháng zǒngshì zài bàngōngshì fàn cuòwù。

That moron is always making mistakes at the office.

浑球儿-hún qiúr-Scumbag, rascal, jerk, good for nothing (Noun)

很傻很天真-hěn shǎ hěn tiān zhēn-Stupid, naïve woman (Adj)

Literal Translation-Very stupid very naïve

nàgè nǚhái zhēnde hěn shǎ hěn tiānzhēn，nǐ shuō shénme tā dōu xìn。

That girl will believe anything you say. She is very naïve.
